About us

The Special Crime Unit (SCU), operating under the State Crime Criminal Information Department (SCCID), is a specialized, intelligence-driven division constituted to address complex, sensitive, and high-impact criminal activities of state, national, and interstate significance.

The Unit was formally approved by the Government of India on 16 November 2025, with the objective of strengthening coordination, intelligence-sharing, and operational efficiency between State Police Organizations and Central Law Enforcement & Intelligence Agencies.

It is a matter of great responsibility and honor to lead the State Crime Criminal Investigation Department (SCCID) and its specialized division, the Special Crime Unit (SCU), which stands committed to strengthening the internal security framework of our nation.

In today’s evolving security environment, the nature of crime has become more complex, organized, and technology-driven. The Special Crime Unit (SCU) has been established with a clear mandate to systematically collect, analyze, and disseminate critical intelligence related to organized and sensitive criminal activities across the country. Our primary objective is to ensure that accurate and timely information is conveyed to the Ministry of Home Affairs (गृह मंत्रालय), enabling informed decision-making at the highest levels.
